Ok so my next wee (drawing) project will be to draw up the 13 Court Guardian Captains and Vice Captains.
Starting with two of my favourites, Kuchiki Bayakuya and Abarai Renji (check the WIP I just posted). Any tips appreciated, I'm using Paint Tool Sai (full version) but I'm still a beginner with it.
Looking forward to drawing Hitsugaya and of course Matsumoto

It's been ages since I've sat down and drawn so it's taking me a while to get back into the swing of things.
In other news - the chainsword is painted up, just need to post some pics!
Are you gelling the front? I think it would look cool
Gonna sort out everything tonight!

Sculptor gone crazy!
I'm goingto 'snub' the point of the Katana this weekend to a) make it more realistic and b) reduce the potential damage it could currently do!
I also need a scabbard which I'll wearn down my back so I'm not knocking drinks over all over the shop in the pubs.

Have you tried sculpting/working with the sheets of pink wall insulation foam? The sheets come in 2 foot by 6 foot panels and are super lightweight. They are available at home inprovement stores, come in several thicknesses, and can be cut easily and sanded very smooth. Plus the "sawdust" is not nearly as sticky. The sheets are about as firm as balsa wood and easy to work with.
You can spray it with primer and it doesn't melt the foam, then paint it with regular acrylic paint.
I use the stuff when I am making the bases for bolters, chainswords, and large helmet decorations.
If you want to give it a try, let me know and I'll give you a hand with your next project.

Yes I've tried using it. My Bolt Pistol and Chainsword are both made from the insulation foam
Bolt Pistol is one piece roughly 1 foot by 2 foot scuplted to the right shape, sanded, primed and painted.
The chainsword is two bits of plywood - forming handle and saw blades - surrounded by insulating foam. The engine housing is also insulating foam.
It's great stuff! As long as you wear gloves while working with it!
Cheers,
Niall.
